How to Size Men's Incontinence Underwear

On By Kelly Z / 0 comments

Choose men's incontinence underwear by comparing your current body measurements with the chart for the exact product, then checking how the pair fits when you sit, walk, and bend. A familiar Medium label or a jeans waist number is not enough. Look for a stable, comfortable fit that keeps the absorbent area in its intended position without tight leg edges or repeated pulling at the waistband.

This guide covers sizing washable underwear for bladder leaks. For a broader introduction to protection levels and daily use, see our men's washable incontinence underwear buying guide.

Take Two Measurements Before Choosing a Size

Use a flexible tape and write down both your waist and hip measurements, including the units. Measure over bare skin or a thin, close-fitting layer, not over a belt, wallet, or bulky trousers. The cover photograph illustrates getting ready; it does not show the measuring position.

Waist: measure your body, not your jeans

Stand relaxed and breathe normally. Keep the tape level around your natural waist, gently against the body without pulling it tight. Follow a different measurement position if the particular product's guide specifies one. Repeat the measurement rather than holding your stomach in to reach a preferred number.

Your trouser waistband may sit below the place used for a standard body measurement. A jeans label can also differ from the actual garment dimensions. Treat it as background information, not a substitute for the product chart.

Hips: include the fullest part of your seat

With your feet together, pass the tape around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. Check in a mirror that it is level behind you, and keep it close without compressing your body. Record this number separately from your waist.

A waist measurement alone can miss a fit issue through the seat. If you switch between inches and centimeters, convert consistently: one inch equals 2.54 centimeters. Do not compare a centimeter reading with an inch column or round down to squeeze into a smaller row.

A Product-Specific TIICHOO Size Chart

The following waist and hip values come from the live Size Chart for TIICHOO Men's Light Absorbent Underwear — 50ml, 5 Pcs, checked on September 12, 2026. They apply to this product example, not automatically to every TIICHOO men's style.

Brand size Waist, inches Hip, inches
S 27–29 33–35
M 29–31 35–37
L 31–33 37–39
XL 35–37 41–43
2XL 38–40 44–46
3XL 40–42 46–48

A 32-inch waist and 38-inch hip both fall in the Large row, making Large a reasonable chart-based starting point for this specific pair. You still need to assess comfort, rise, and leg openings.

Notice that the published chart contains both shared boundaries and gaps. For example, a 34-inch waist and 40-inch hip are not covered by a listed row. Do not invent a missing size range or assume that XL must fit. Send your measurements and the exact product link to customer support for clarification before ordering. If a boundary appears in two rows, ask which is appropriate for your shape and preferred fit.

The full product chart also includes a thigh-circumference column. Check the live guide for that detail and ask how to take the measurement if the method is unclear. This shortened table is not a replacement for the full product guide.

Open the 50ml five-pack and review its current Size Chart.

Check Fit Sitting Down, Not Only Standing Up

Before trying a pair, read the current hygiene, washing, and exchange instructions. Keep the rest of a multipack unopened while you assess the first pair, in line with the product page's current fit guidance. Follow the care label before actual use.

A seated check adds information that a standing mirror check can miss. This is an illustrative scene, not a product test or customer testimonial.

Try a short sequence in the clothes you expect to wear: stand normally, sit in a chair, stand up, walk across the room, and bend gently if comfortable. After each movement, notice whether the underwear stayed in place or needed adjustment.

Area A useful fit sign A reason to reassess
Waist Comfortable contact sitting and standing Digging, slipping, or repeated rolling
Front and crotch Absorbent area stays in its intended position Sagging, twisting, or pulling
Seat and rise Coverage remains comfortable when seated Back waistband being pulled down
Leg edges Close contact without pinching Gaps, rubbing, or persistent riding up

Do not pull a pair sharply upward to force it to fit. If it feels painful or causes persistent pressure or irritation, stop the trial. Good protection is not a reason to tolerate an uncomfortable garment.

The aim is not a perfect-looking silhouette. It is a pair that stays comfortable through your normal movements and can be pulled down and back up without a struggle during bathroom visits.

When Waist and Hip Point to Different Sizes

A mixed result does not mean you should average the two labels. For example, a waist in Medium and a hip in Large needs a product-specific decision, particularly if the smaller size pulls across the seat.

Start by measuring again. Check the units and the exact product chart, then tell support both numbers rather than saying only that you usually wear Medium. Include whether the main issue is at the waist, front, seat, or thighs.

It may be sensible to try a different size, but a different shape can matter too. Continence Product Advisor's body-shape guidance notes that some fitting difficulties call for a different product shape rather than a change of size.

Think about the pattern: if a larger pair relieves pressure at the thighs but leaves the waist loose, continuing to size up may not solve the problem. Compare the cut and rise instead. Our briefs versus boxer briefs guide explains the coverage choices.

Keep Clothing Size Separate From Absorbency

A larger size is not an upgrade in leak protection. Size describes fit; the stated absorbency and intended use belong to the particular product. A comfortable 50ml style is still a light-protection style, not a substitute for a product intended for a different leakage pattern.

For the product pictured, TIICHOO currently lists 50ml absorbency and describes small drips, light leaks, and everyday backup. If you are comparing it with a different protection level, use the men's absorbency guide and recheck that other product's own size chart.

Labels are comparison aids, not promises about how long you can wear a pair. Continence Product Advisor's overview for men explains that real-world performance can differ from stated capacity and that fit, activity, and changing needs matter when selecting a product.

If leakage occurs, note whether the pair moved, whether it was already wet, and whether the leak matched its intended use. Leakage by itself does not prove that you need a smaller size. Change when wet or uncomfortable; do not deliberately delay changing or a needed bathroom visit to test capacity.

Plan Your First Order Around a Fit Check

Before choosing a full rotation, keep a simple note of the exact style, size, waist and hip measurements, and where you felt pressure or movement. This makes a support conversation more useful and avoids repeatedly ordering from memory.

Once you have a pair that works, use our guide to how many pairs men need to plan changes, clean backups, and drying time. Do not build the whole rotation around an untested size just because the pack looks convenient.

If you shop for someone else, involve them in the choice and protect their privacy. Ask whether they can change independently and what feels comfortable while seated. The caregiver's men's underwear guide covers practical changing and routine considerations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should men's incontinence underwear be tight?

It should fit close enough to stay in place without digging in. Tightness alone does not show that a pair will perform well. Check the waistband, leg edges, and absorbent area's position after sitting and walking.

Can I order my usual boxer-brief size?

Use it as a starting point only. Compare fresh body measurements with the exact product chart, even if another TIICHOO style fits you well. Different cuts and fabrics can feel different at the same letter size.

Should I size up if I am between sizes?

Not automatically. Recheck waist and hip, identify any chart gap or shared boundary, and get product-specific advice. A larger size may relieve one tight area while creating a loose area elsewhere.

Why do the legs ride up when the waist feels right?

The leg shape, length, or fit through the thighs may not suit you. Review the cut as well as the size. Repeated adjustment is a useful sign to discuss, not proof that you should always buy a smaller pair.

Can I use the same size across different absorbencies?

Only after checking each product's chart. Do not assume that a 50ml style and a 100ml or 200ml style share the same dimensions, cut, or fabric. Choose protection and fit as separate decisions.

Does choosing the right size treat bladder leakage?

No. It helps you choose a wearable product, not treat the cause. The NHS overview of incontinence products describes them as support while seeking diagnosis or treatment. Seek medical advice for new or worsening symptoms. NIDDK guidance advises prompt care for problems such as blood in urine, painful urination, or inability to urinate.

Choose From Measurements, Then Confirm the Fit

Write down your measurements, open the exact product's chart, and check the first pair through ordinary seated and standing movements. If the numbers do not map clearly to a size, clarify them before ordering. A clear starting point and a practical fit check are more useful than chasing a familiar size label.
